After that little travel hiccup our first week in LA (you can read all about that here) followed by the most perfect, relaxing few days in Palm Springs, we were finally in a good place travel-wise and I felt ready to give the beach another go. We spent our last week in Los Angeles alternating between half days at various beautiful Malibu beaches and staying downtown and exploring the nearby neighborhoods.
El Matador State Beach in Malibu. Hands down my new favourite California beach.
I’m nothing if not a good stalker so obviously living so close to the Arts District meant a trip to the New Girl loft. (Sadly no Max Greenfield in sight.) Also: we got our German fix at the most delicious sausage place. Coming from this German-born lady who just lived in Munich for two years, you seriously have to go. It’s that good.)
Isabelle twirling in her new Marimekko for Target dress. (More about my obsession with this collaboration here.)
Nicky turned 7 months… two days before we left for LA. But, because I am absolutely terrible with the onesie sticker photos this time around, I didn’t get around to taking his photo until we were in Los Angeles. Two weeks into our trip.
My first iPhone self timer venture to capture our matching swimsuits at Leo Carillo. I’d say it was a decent attempt except for the fact that I feel like I totally photo bombed that sweet sibling moment happening up there.
Still not so sure about the cat.
Back to El Matador beach because it was just that good. Also more Marimekko amazingness because that collab was just that good as well. 😉
Keeping Nicolas entertained with Isabelle’s banjo and the selfie camera.
Some of my favourite Nicolas photos ever. Because look at that little post-nursing, milk-drunk doll face!
We took a quick trip to the Original Los Angeles Flower Market on our last day in LA. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when we got to the building and it was surrounded by barbed wire (really? why?). Luckily the inside wasn’t nearly as sketchy as the outside. Soooo many beautiful flowers! Definitely worth the $2 entrance fee just for the opportunity to take enough flower shots to fill up your Instagram feed for months.
We did however pick up these ranunculus beauties.
Ahh, travelling with kids. What can I say? We pack light. But seriously, no idea what I would have done without my sister to help lug everything through the airport. 2 car seats, a stroller, a suitcase, an extra little duffel (because I bought way too much at Target), and a carry-on knapsack. Oh and Isabelle’s little roller suitcase that she insists on travelling with but only actually pulls behind her about 1/3 of the time. One of these days I will figure out this carry-on only travel business.
