I honestly can’t believe we’re already one week into February. How was 2017 flown by so fast?! Exactly one more week until Valentine’s Day and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m not generally a big Valentine’s Day person in the traditional sense, but I love the idea of celebrating love in general – for your spouse, your kids, your family, your friends. Showing appreciation for the most important people in your life is always a good idea in my books.
This year we’ll be celebrating at home. I honestly love staying in on Valentine’s Day the best – no expensive dinner reservations that you have to make months in advance, no need for a babysitter on one of their busiest days of the year. Just some family and friends, a home-cooked meal, followed by a game of cards or a board game (Bonanza and Settlers of Catan are some of our all-time favourites) with tons of laughter (and cocktails) whilst the kiddos sleep upstairs.
With that in mind, I’ve created a simple, winter tablescape that is easy to throw together last minute, if you’re hosting some family or friends this year (or even with just with two place settings for a romantic dinner date). All you need is a white tablecloth, some eucalyptus branches, and mix-and-match block candles and votives. I’ve added a touch of red (it is Valentine’s Day, after all) with these absolutely delicious raspberry cream tea mimosas (you can find the recipe here). They are seriously my all-time favourite cocktail and something I bring out for every special occasion these days.
What are your Valentine’s Day plans?
