Oh, why, hello there! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. Most of you know me from that little app called Instagram that I may or may not be addicted to. For those of you who don’t, my name is Sina, pronounced “See” (like the letter “C”) + “nuh”. Not like Xena the warrior princess. (I was a teenager in the late 90s. Enough said.) My husband, Chris, and I live in Toronto in a little red brick house near the beach with our two little curly-haired monsters (ahem, I mean angels), Isabelle and Nicolas.
I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a while now. But like the skilled procrastinator that I am, I’m only just now getting around to it. (Better late than never, right?) I’ve always been a very creative person (drawing, crafting, dance, photography – you name it) and writing a blog really is such a great creative outlet that lets me combine so many of my favourite things into one space. (Not to worry, I won’t post a video of me dancing.)
I want to use this space to share that creative side of me. To give you a peek into my home and how I’ve decorated it. (Or more like how I am decorating it, since it’s nowhere near finished.) To share some of my favourite ways to incorporate Scandinavian style without breaking the bank. Throw in a crafting project here and there. (I really ought to buy some shares in Home Depot with the amounts of money I drop at that store.) Maybe a little bit about photography and editing since that’s a question I get relatively often on Instagram.
Then there’s the whole motherhood shtick. I don’t know what I’m doing 99.9% of the time but on occasion I still feel the need to impart my little bit of parenting wisdom onto anyone who will listen. (Insert tongue out winking emoji.) And I will no doubt share way too many travel pictures because, as we all know from Instagram, I’m nothing if not an oversharer in that department. Even though I may have sworn off all future travel until Nicolas is at least two, I’m sure this will last all of maybe two months until I get a major case of wanderlust again and spontaneously book a trip to Savannah. Or Costa Rica. Or Namibia. (Oh man, just writing those places down is making me all antsy to jump on the next flight. Ha!) I also love dressing my kiddos (who doesn’t?) and even myself on occasion (in something other than Lululemon) so I’m sure a style post or two will find its way onto here.
If you’re wondering how I came up with the name, let me explain. First of all, I didn’t actually come up with it. My husband did. For all that “I’m such a creative person blah blah blah” spiel that I just spewed out, I could not for the life of me come up with a name that I thought was catchy, easy to remember, and still somewhat relevant to the space I wanted to create here. At least not one where the domain was still available, anyway. I spent way too much time on godaddy.com typing in what feels like thousands of names. (Seriously, internet, why is absolutely every conceivable domain name already used up?)
I knew I wanted to incorporate the word grey. My style is very monochrome and minimal and what better colour to convey that than grey? I also like to think I’m pretty easy-going and I definitely approach pretty much all aspects of my life – parenting (for the most part, anyway), decorating, getting dressed – with a casual, laid-back attitude. So instead of “Happy Go Lucky” we have “Happy Grey Lucky”.
So there you have it! If you’re still reading after this novel, you are amazing and you deserve a perfectly delicious coconut milk latte made by a feisty two year old. (Come on over and I can make it happen.) But seriously, thank you so much for stopping by! It means so much to me. I hope to see you here again soon!
